Penny's Offspring with Titles:
"Orion" - UWPCH Winterstarz Orion Nebula, WTD, WPD, WWPDX

Penny is a New Year's Day puppy, born January 1, 2009. She was the last puppy delivered in a litter of 11, born hours after we thought Aurie had finished whelping, and we wondered at first if she would survive. We quickly learned that Penny is a fighter; within 30 minutes of her birth she was so full of milk that she looked like she had swallowed a ping pong ball! Soon she was out in front of the pack, leading the rest of the puppies to new adventures. She is very friendly with other dogs and people, especially children, and loves to greet everyone and give them kisses.

Penny enjoyed showing in conformation classes with her sister Sassy, and has also been shown in Brace class with her mother Aurie. She earned her UKC Championship in the summer of 2011 and was ranked the #10 Alaskan Malamute in Conformation by the UKC in 2011.

Penny completed Beginner and Intermediate Obedience, but loved Agility class the most! She earned her Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International degrees at Responsible Dog Ownership Day in September 2011; she also demonstrated weight pulling for an appreciative crowd at that event. Penny polished up her Rally Obedience skills and we competed with her and her brother Huck in August 2013. Penny was amazing, placing first in all three of the all-breed trials to earn her Rally Novice (RN) title, proving mals can be fantastic performance dogs! Penny began working by carting and sledding with our team in Fall of 2009. She really loves to run and earned her WTD (Working Team Dog) title in January 2010, earning two of the legs at the 2010 CrowDitarod weekend here at WinterStar Farm. She steadily gained confidence running with the older dogs, and now runs well in any position on the hitch. She is so friendly that we have also been able to lend her to other people and have her run with their teams! A natural at weight pulling, Penny pulled advanced and excellent level weights from her very first time in the chute, and the first weight pull title she earned was her WWPDX (Working Weight Pull Dog Excellent), followed by her UWPCH (United Weight Puller Champion, awarded by the United Kennel Club).

In October 2012, Penny was awarded the Versatile Alaskan Malamute (VAM) title by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America; the 7th malamute ever to be honored with this title. In October 2013, Penny was awarded the All Around Alaskan Malamute (AAAM) by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America; the 11th malamute ever to receive this title.

Penny was bred to our boy Ruckus and produced a litter of two puppies, a boy and a girl, in January 2014. We kept the boy, Orion, to add to our team. Penny was spayed after this litter was born, so will not be producing any more puppies. Penny is a joy to own and we look forward to a lot of good times with her!
